Thirteen Year Old Austistic Girl Finds Voice Through Computer

This story is simply amazing. A 13-year-old girl with severe autism that was unable to speak discovers her voice through a chance encounter with her father's laptop. She sat and typed HELP HURT TEETH. Her parents couldn't believe it. She couldn't speak so they had no idea that she could spell. It turns out that this young lady is quite intelligent, eloquent, and locquacious.

She's been a non-stop chatterbox - via computer - ever since. She wants to know when she'll be able to go on a date. LOL. In fact, you can ask her questions about living with autism, etc. online and she will respond. See and hear the story here.

Wow, that is pretty awesome! I worked with autistic kids a few years ago and from that experience, never thought this kind of communication would be possible. Very cool.
